The prostate
The prostate is a gland located between the urinary bladder and the penis and producing a part of sperm components. With advancing age, it begins to enlarge, and the resulting hypertrophy makes micturition difficult, causes pain and appears as a risk factor for the occurrence of malignant diseases.
Symptoms of this disease are::

relatively frequent and difficult micturition; |

low urine flow; |

inadequate control on the urinary bladder; |

need of frequent (more than one) nocturnal micturition; |
|
abrupt pain in the lower part of the abdomen. |
These diseases are treated with synthetic drugs as finasteride and terazosin as well as with phytotherapeutic agents like herbs and oils but the extract from the fruits of Serenoa repens (Saw palmetto) is most popular and has proved its effect. In Italy, the use of phytoproducts for diseases of the prostate exceeds 6 times the use of synthetic drugs, and in Germany approximately 90% of patients and physicians have expressed their preferences for these phytoproducts.
